11/13: Wrestling with the big schools

.
Hello again wrestling fans. Well, our first competition is in the books! We had three guys, Tim Palmer (165), myself (174) and Dan Laurent (HWT), at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa. We had an OK weekend with two third-place finishes.

From wrestling this weekend against great competition, we leaned that we need to continue to work on our weaknesses every day from now until March if we are going to finish where we want to be. We all made mistakes, but they are mistakes that can and will be corrected by the time you read this.

The rest of our team was at the Pointer Open in Stevens Point, Wis. From what I have gathered from the coaches and teammates is that they too have some corrections to make. We had several champions and some underclassmen step up to the plate and showcase their talents, which is real exciting. We need the younger guys to step up and fill in for our graduated seniors.

It is going to be a busy week in the wrestling room preparing for next weekend.

Overall, we are sitting where we want to be and will continue to progress toward our common goal in March, which is individual and team championships!

Thanks for following along and I will let you know how the weekend goes!

Upcoming on Saturday, November 17: Olivet Duals in Olivet Michigan and Auggie Open @ Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN.

--Yours in wrestling,

JOSH

" JOSH GHELF: UW-L is a great wrestling school. Congratulations on hanging with the Big dogs at Iowa State. Good luck having a great year. I hope you guys do well in the WIAC again this year and bust butts to get the whole team to the Nationals and win it too! Cheers to the 2008 UW-L wrestlers! "
