Feb. 29 -- Here's a release from UW-La Crosse previewing Friday's gymnastics triangular with a worthy cause--breast cancer awareness--as its theme.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team is joining the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Gymnastics wide initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in "Power in Pink" during the Eagles’ triangular with UW-Eau Claire and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) Friday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the meet to show their support in the fight against breast cancer. Pink t-shirts will be given away to the first 50 people the door. During the three-minute touches of the meet, ‘Power in Pink’ trivia questions will be asked and prizes awarded.
Students and fans can learn more from the educational displays and brochures supplied by the Gundersen Lutheran Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care, to help in early detection and prevention, which are keys to the fight against breast cancer.
Team colors will be set aside as the Eagles, Blugolds and Gusties will wear pink leotards (different shades) in the meet.
