July 6 -- Here's a long-overdue statistical update on former Loggers players in professional baseball. The 2008 draft was one of the team's most successful in terms of former and current players being selected. A total of 13 were taken, plus three who had been signed but never showed up.

Notable:

Max Scherzer, the first former Logger to make the big leagues, hasn't pitched since June 15 because of shoulder inflammation. He's back in Class AAA.

Brad Holt, one of the Loggers' top pitchers, from 2007, is off to a good start in Class A Short Season for the Mets, who took him in the first round (33rd) last month.

Sweet-swinging Sawyer Carroll, a third-round pick of the Padres this year, is batting .301 with three homers in 18 games for Class A Eugene.
